FAQ / SUPPORT

Quick answers about VAP products, fitment, digital files, printing and support.

01

Before Purchase

Product type, included files and fitment.

Is this a digital file or a physical part?

The product type is stated on every product page. Products marked Digital 3D Print File are downloadable products supplied in both 3MF and STL formats and do not include a printed component, hardware or other physical items unless explicitly stated. Physical products are identified separately.

What is included with a VAP digital product?

The included files, configurations and variants are listed on the relevant product page. Contents differ between products, so always review the Included Files information before purchasing.

Will every VAP E36 product fit every BMW E36?

Not necessarily. Fitment can vary by body style, production year, left- or right-hand drive configuration, existing equipment and previous modifications.

Always check the product-specific fitment information before purchasing or printing. Vehicle variants that are not listed as tested or confirmed should be treated as not yet verified.

Where can I find product-specific technical information?

Each product page provides the essential specifications and links to further technical information when available. Product-specific guides cover fitment, material selection, print preparation, installation and known limitations.

Printing & Installation

Materials, printers and technical guidance.

What is a 3MF file?

3MF is a modern file format that can store geometry, units, orientation and additional print-project information in one structured package. The information retained can vary between products and slicers.

Which material should I use for a VAP file?

Material selection depends on the part, its installed location and its operating conditions. VAP generally considers ABS a practical baseline for many protected interior components and ASA for exterior parts exposed to weather and UV.

PETG or PCTG may be suitable for selected applications. Always follow the material guidance provided for the specific product.

Can I print VAP parts in PLA?

PLA and PLA+ are useful for prototypes, fitment checks and low-cost test prints. They are generally not recommended for permanently installed automotive parts unless the relevant product page explicitly states otherwise.

Vehicle interiors and exterior locations can expose parts to temperatures and environmental conditions beyond the reliable operating range of standard PLA.

Which printer and slicer can I use?

Your printer must provide sufficient build volume and meet the temperature, bed and enclosure requirements of the selected material. Most 3MF files can be opened with common modern slicers, but plate layouts, profiles and project data may not transfer identically between applications.

Always review the imported orientation and print settings before starting a print.

Where can I find print settings and installation instructions?

Use the guidance provided on the product page or in the linked product guide. Requirements can differ by geometry, material and installation location, so VAP does not apply one universal print profile to every component.

Do not force a part into position. Stop the installation if the printed component is damaged, visibly deformed or does not match the documented fitment.

Orders, Licensing & Support

Downloads, permitted use, refunds and assistance.

How do I receive my digital files?

A download link is provided after checkout and sent to the email address used for the order. Keep the order confirmation for future reference.

What should I do if my download is missing?

Check the inbox and spam folder associated with your order and confirm that the email address entered during checkout was correct. If the download is still unavailable, contact VAP and include your order number and the email address used for the purchase.

Can I share or resell VAP files?

No. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, VAP digital products are licensed for the purchaser's personal use. The original or modified files may not be shared, uploaded, redistributed or resold.

Can I sell parts printed from VAP files?

Not unless a commercial licence or written permission is explicitly provided. Purchasing a digital product does not automatically grant permission to manufacture printed parts for resale.

For commercial-use enquiries, contact VAP before producing or offering parts for sale.

Are digital products refundable?

Refund eligibility is governed by the VAP Refund Policy and Digital Product Policy. Because digital products cannot be physically returned, different conditions may apply once download access has been provided.

If a file appears incomplete or technically defective, contact VAP with the order number and a clear description of the issue.

What information should I provide when requesting support?

To help VAP assess the issue efficiently, include:

  • product name and order number, if applicable;
  • vehicle model, body style, production year and LHD/RHD configuration;
  • printer, slicer, material and filament manufacturer;
  • photographs or screenshots of the issue.

The required information may vary depending on whether the issue concerns fitment, printing, installation or file delivery.
