Overview
This free digital download includes a prepared 3MF file and matching STL geometry for printing a small BMW E36 M6 interior trim nut-style component for non-structural trim and test-fit applications.
It is intended as a practical sample file for detail-focused interior work, prototyping and checking the VAP digital workflow.
Non-structural interior use only. Do not use for safety-critical or load-bearing applications.
What You Get
- Prepared .3MF file plus matching .STL geometry, supplied as a free download for an M6 interior trim nut-style component
- Prepared orientation and recommended baseline print settings
- Geometry tuned for print reliability, fitment testing and surface quality
Fitment & Use
Designed for compatible BMW E36 interior trim, light-duty detail and test-fit applications. Fitment may vary depending on printer calibration, material shrinkage, layer height, extrusion accuracy and the condition of the vehicle interior trim.
Thread engagement and friction may vary depending on material choice and print quality. Minor cleanup or thread chasing may be required.
Material & Printing
- Recommended: ASA for balanced heat resistance and automotive interior use
- Premium option: ASA-CF for increased stiffness and a technical surface finish
- Also suitable: PETG for easier printing and moderate interior temperatures
- Test fitting only: PLA, not recommended for final vehicle use
Designed for FDM printing and optimized for enclosed printers such as the Bambu Lab P1S. Recommended layer height: 0.12–0.20 mm. Lower layer heights may improve thread quality and edge definition.
Installation Notes
- Compare the printed component with the original part or intended mounting location.
- Test-fit by hand first.
- Do not overtighten.
- Do not force the thread.
- Do not use this part in safety-critical or load-bearing locations.
Important Safety Notes
- This is a digital product. No physical item is included.
- The download includes both a prepared 3MF file and matching STL geometry.
- This file is intended for non-structural interior use only.
- Do not use this printed component for seats, seat belts, steering, pedals, suspension, drivetrain, chassis, exterior safety parts or load-bearing applications.
- No metal hardware, tools, adhesive or installation accessories are included.
- Test-fit before paint, coating or permanent finishing.
Why Free?
This file is offered as a free VAP sample so users can test the print preparation, fitment-focused design approach and general workflow before purchasing larger file packs or more complex components.
Why Both Formats?
The 3MF version preserves the prepared orientation, component positioning and recommended baseline print settings for the intended VAP workflow. The matching STL file contains the same printable geometry for broad slicer compatibility and independent print preparation.
VAP Approach
